Hi, Have changed the belts a few times on S2 engine, too. Theo encourged me to do it, when we were togheter in Holland ! First I made a little tool to lock the flywheel (let me know if you like a drawing), then I removed the pully of the crankshaft using an pull-off device. Next you can loosen the 3 tensioner pullies and take off the belts. Now you can even take off the 2 toothed wheels on the crank and have a look if the crank seal is still fine. If you can see sludged I would recommand to replace it. It is not so expensive and if you have gone so far this is an easy job to do. Good luck !
