Thanks René, Yes, I've changed all the bushes that I can get at from inside the car - having taken out the centre console. I'll try Paul's inhibitor switch adjustment as the next step, and then maybe the main linkage adjustment. As you say it could be something in the gearbox itself. The car has only done 39,000 miles but I think auto box problems at around 40,000 miles were not uncommon so this could be an early symptom but here's hoping. I have a spare manual gearbox just in case!
