One area I think we tend to leave out of discussions is the Bosch L-Jetronic Fuel injection system. I don't know how commmon this system is (but common to some Betas and Fiat Argenta at least I think), or whether there are plenty of spares around. The system is basically very reliable so I've never had to find out! I suppose it will be possible in the future to remanufacture or refurbish mechanical parts (at a price) but I wonder what we do when the ecu's pack up or need new injectors? Has the classic car supply market picked up on this area yet?
