Hello Paul, I find that the idle mixture setting for the MOT and for best running is not the same! Try adjusting the screw half turn at a time and waiting about 15-20 seconds after each adjustment. Adjust for the best (smoothest & highest) idling and it will be better than a quick adjustment on a gas analyser. Make a note of the screw half-turns so you can always revert back to the original setting. If the plugs were sooty then the idle mixture is probably wrong or you had the wrong plugs. As I've already said, I found the Bosch Super-4 W56 to be very good in the Gamma.
