Thanks Theo, Yes I've found the article and I have a spare tank so will run through Peter's test and then change if necessary. Looks like I won't be able to make Gaydon now though which is annoying. I bought a new coil and fitted it just in case but it hasn't made any difference. On the point of articles in the old Newsletter whilst flicking through the January 1993 edition (Nigel Thomson's very professional offering) there is an article on struts by Ian Hodson with a couple of photos. The one that failed on mine looks similar to his photo but even worse!
