Hi all took the drivers seat out of the coupe this  weekend and noticed a cable attached to the foot tilt pedal which  goes under the carpet where does it go and what does it do? i assume something to do with frontal impact and seat adjustment under impact?

The cable is the seat back
auto release it runs to a
spring loaded pin in the A pillar
Elegant solution for rear seat
access.

As you open the door the front seat on that side releases the seat back to enable access to the rear, the cable under the seat has a threaded collar to allow adjustment to the release point.

It has confused many MOT examiners
" your seats broken mate " ... No it's supposed to do that.

Adjust so that when door is closed
seat back is locked in place.
Door open seat back unlocked.
